Julie Prough

Julie Prough is currently the Director of UPMC’s Enterprise Data Quality efforts. In this position she oversees the MDM technology and operational components to connect and protect the UPMC’s patient and member data. She has held a variety of positions in UPMC’s Human Resources and IT Departments during her 30-year career.

She moved into her present role as Director of Enterprise Data Quality in 2012, overseeing the ID management and Clinical data quality teams and the IBM Infosphere MDM and Microsoft Dynamics CRM technical teams. Her primary responsibility is to act as a change agent and liaison to the various divisions within the UPMC, ensuring the smooth and timely identification/coordination and remediation of the enterprise’s data quality challenges, target process improvement opportunities and develop the patient matching/ID management strategy in support of UPMC’s growing business needs.

Julie earned her bachelor’s degree in business with a minor in psychology from the University of Pittsburgh. She also has her MBA from Pitt’s Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business.

Currently, Julie is the chair of the UPMC’s Women in IT – External Outreach Subcommittee. The goal is to inspire, provide learning opportunities and support girls/women in the community and understand that IT has something for all. Their efforts range from inspiring and supporting the curiosity / technological creativity of middle and high school girls to equipping women re-entering the workforce with resources to find employment in IT.
