Jon Peha

Professor of Electrical Engineering & Public Policy, CMU

Jon Peha is a Professor of electrical engineering and public policy at Carnegie Mellon University, where there is plenty of room for great graduate students coming from Red Chair events. He has also worked in government and in start-ups. In government, he served at the Federal Communications Commission as the Chief Technologist, in the White House, in Congress, and at the US Agency for International Development where he assisted developing countries around the world on technology issues. In industry, he has worked with a number of start-ups, and served as Chief Technical Officer for three of them. Whether it’s in academia, industry or government, he works on technical and policy issues related to technologies, including the Internet, cellular systems, communications systems for vehicles, broadcasting, financial technology, and disaster preparedness. He has a Ph.D. in electrical engineering.
