Babs Carryer

Babs Carryer is Director of the Big Idea Center for the University of Pittsburgh’s Innovation Institute. Her role encompasses programs to encourage and support innovation and entrepreneurship across campus to students at all levels and across all disciplines. Babs has
given talks and seminars on entrepreneurship around the world including Algeria, Brazil, Chile, Portugal and Turkey. She developed and ran for two years the “Lab to Market” seminar for hundreds of Fulbright Scholars. Babs is a serial entrepreneur, writer and educator. For 15 years, Babs helped to build the entrepreneurial ecosystem at Carnegie Mellon University. As President of Carryer Consulting, Babs has worked with hundreds of companies and startups to grow their businesses. Babs is a co-founder of LaunchCyte, with a portfolio of five companies which have commercialized university technologies into marketplace products. She is a co-founder of the Pittsburgh Chapter of Women in Bio and is past President of the local chapter of Sisters in Crime. Babs has a Masters in Public Management from Heinz College at CMU and a BA from Mills College in CA. Babs is author of a startup murder mystery HD66 – search for a cure, or a killer?
