2020 Sit with Me Annual Event – Recap

On Thursday, November 19, 2020 RedChairPgh held our 6th annual #sitwithme event. More than 100 women and men gathered for an evening of learning, encouragement, and networking with an amazing lineup of women executives focused on diversity and inclusion for women in tech. The event’s keynote speaker was Avis Yates Rivers, CEO of TCGi and board member of National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT), and author of Necessary Inclusion: Embracing the Changing Faces of Technology.

Following Avis’ address, we held three breakouts:

NCWIT : Dr. Catherine Ashcraft, NCWIT Director of Research discussed NCWIT’s most recent research on women in technology.

Necessary Behaviors:

Janet Crenshaw Smith, cofounder and President of Ivy Planning Group, discussed Microtriggers, the subtle behaviors, annoying phrases, and micro-inequities that can derail relationships.

Necessary Conversations

Sponsored by Adobe: Avis Yates Rivers led a panel discussion about Necessary Lessons Learned on the Way to the Top with Debbie Guild, Chief Security Officer at PNC and Kathleen Lovett, VP eBusiness, Digital Operations and Portfolio Management at Thermo Fisher Scientific. The first 50 registrants to this breakout received a signed copy of Avis Yates Rivers’ book Necessary Inclusion: Embracing the Changing Faces of Technology.

Although the event was completely virtual, we made it intimate by sending out swag boxes with a RedChairPGH mug, some snacks and water bottles from ThermoFisher Scientific and Comcast.
